Triathlon – Ironman 70.3 Mallorca 2013

Again the Balearic Island of Mallorca has been chosen by Thomas Cook for the Ironman 70.3 to celebrate this Triathlon as is considered a paradise for triathlon. The race took place in the north of the Island. The swimming competition was held in the waters of Puerto de Alcudia. The bike course took the athletes to the beautiful mountains of Serra de Tramuntana and is a circuit of one turn with ups and downs accompanied demanding long flat parts. The half marathon course is a flat circuit three laps along the beautiful Alcudia Beach and surrounding streets.

3,300 people from 67 different countries participated this year in the Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Triathlon, held in our wonderful island for the third consecutive year that consisted in a swim of 1.9 kilometers (km), 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running. This edition had the runner Hawaii Ironman World 2012 and 2010, Andreas Raelert, although the winner was the Spanish Eneko Llanos.

This event, world renowned and celebrated throughout the year in many parts of the world such as Frankfurt, Berlin, Hawaii, Australia, New Orleans, California, France and others, have had the pleasure of having the island of Mallorca as host.

More than 1,500 volunteers from here and other nationalities have voluntarily participated in this great event for the entire route from Alcudia and other circuit to meet and help the athletes, impressive demonstration of the great collaboration for Ironman 70.3.
