Cala Figuera Beach in Pollensa;
Cala Figuera in Pollensa is a Cultural and Natural Heritage in Mallorca, a natural space located in a remote and no touristic area close to Cap de Formentor. It is still a virgin enclave for nature lovers and a Protected Natural Area in Mallorca forming part of Serra de Tramuntana.
Cala Figuera is a lovely cove of stones, sand and pebbles and from time to time partly covered by seaweed located about 13,5 km far from the Port of Pollensa. There is one spectacular u-shaped sea inlet that finishes on a beach between cliffs, on one side, the right one, are stony and very high, really amazing and wonderful and those on the left are sandstone, not so high and not so steep and easy to walk through. In certain periods of the year you can see how the water of a torrent flows into the sea in this area. The vegetation is scrubland with lentisk small palms as well as bushes. The pine trees are only on the top of the cliffs. The water is crystal clear but with a lot of small/large stones.
The marine and underwater conditions are dangerous for anchoring boats if the wind blows from the north or northeast but during summer time is a cove highly visited with all kind of boat. The depth ranges from five meters at two hectometers from the coast to three meters at one and a half hectometers from the beach on a sandy and stony ground and located at 10,2 nautical miles there is Port de Pollensa on those Geographical coordinates: 3º10’27” E – 39º57’11” N.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs following the road from Puerto de Pollensa to Cap de Formentor, almost arriving to the end of the road with wonderful panoramic views, and is not very crowded by tourists. There is a parking area, from where there is a path that goes down to the beach. The parking is not a big one, in fact quite small and from there you are recommended to descend on foot the last 1.400 meters on a dusty and stony track in bad conditions, there is a 15-20 minutes rough walk from the parking place to the beach.
Concerning to children let you know that the sea is relatively shallow but is not considered a Children Friendly Beach due its rocky conditions.
There is no public transport and there are no services at all in Cala Figuera Beach. It is considered as a Nudist Beach in a lot of beach guides but not considered as it by our Government. A lot of people practicing nudism there.
