Cala Formentor Beach;
When we are speaking about Cala Formentor Beach, we are speaking about one of the most beautiful spots on the island for tis natural enclave and for its long a famous history and, as you can imagine as a result, we are speaking about a very popular beach in Mallorca.
Cala Formentor (known as too as Cala Pi de sa Posada) is an inlet in the interior of which is located Cala Gentil, the area known as Formentor Beach, where there is the famous hotel with the same name. It is located 14 kilometers away from the resort of Puerto Pollensa. The beach is a kilometer sandy beach long but narrow and it is formed by very fine-grained sand of a very clear and white color surrounded by a very thick and green pine and holm oak wood. The branches of the trees nearly touch the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean Sea on this wonderful coastal area.
The marine and underwater conditions are excellent for anchoring boats. But you are recommended to be extremely careful if the wind blows from the southeast, south, southwest because the anchor might move. The sandy ground is at a depth that ranges from five meters at three hectometers from the coast and three meters at two hectometers from the beach. You are not recommended either to pass or anchor in the channel built by the coast and Illa de Formentor because the depth is only one meters.
Concerning to children, let you know that the sea is relatively shallow but the space for playing at the beach is limited as it goes at eight meters deep quite fast, just in a few meters, so despite the shallow clear sea, this beach is not the best for children.
Very busy beach in high season and frequented by cyclists and many coaches arriving from all over the island. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located in the surroundings and this is where you can park as well, although finding a place might be difficult because of the massive influx of local visitors and tourists. Close to the beach there is a parking place. The parking fee is 5 Euro. Otherwise you can park the car along the road for free if available but keep in mind you have to get there early. Another option to arrive there is taking a catamaran from Puerto de Alcudia or Puerto de Pollensa, what is a nice excursion.
